History

Edison Electronics was founded in 1995 by a couple passionate about electronics. Their beginnings were at home, where they carried out manual production and developed projects. After a year, they rented a space in the Horta neighborhood of Barcelona. There, the company grew to employ 5 workers in a 72m² area.

Initially, their clients belonged to sectors such as the medical field, alarms, and RF. For 10 years, the team remained stable, becoming a small family that had to face the transition to SMD assembly, a challenging stage for the company. It was then that our R&D department was formed to optimize the measurements of electronic boards and devices, following the direction the sector was taking.

In 2006, the couple's two children joined the company, coinciding with Edison's move to Badalona, where they relocated to a 300m² warehouse. During this time, Edison's team grew steadily to 8 employees. After stabilizing the new facilities and nearly completing the adoption of SMD assembly, the decision was made to increase the staff to 10 workers.

In 2012, Edison began working on multidisciplinary projects, adopting ARM architecture as a standard for its projects. This decision allowed for optimization of development times and costs.

In 2014, Edison obtained ISO:9001 certification. A year later, an integral production management software was internally developed to track traceability and resources, allowing constant monitoring of production statuses, material locations, and individuals involved in each stage.

In 2018, Edison expanded its facilities to over 600m², expanding SMD production lines, storage, and acquiring equipment such as a 3D AOI and selective soldering.

The 2020 decade started with a stable staff of 16 employees at Edison. This fostered a solid R&D team and a proprietary standardized manufacturing system, optimizing the production of electronic equipment.

In 2024, we moved to new 1,000m² facilities and expanded to 3 SMD production lines. We now have 25 employees, allowing us to improve delivery times and optimize productions. Additionally, we have strengthened the R&D department with new hires, enhancing our innovation and technological development capabilities.
